Travelling the Lanes

Cycling the ancient narrow sunken lanes in the Sussex weald is pure magic, especially on a classic touring bicycle, but it is not a pleasure that is easily earned. There are some short, sharp sudden gradients tucked away in those hills, some of them breathtaking steep. They are a useful reminder that the English word ‘travel’ springs from the French word ‘travail’ or hard labour. ¬†With that in mind, I feel safe in saying that I have travelled much on the winding little lanes in the weald.¬†
